Xi’an Jiaotong University(XJTU) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. Founded in 1896, XJTU is one of the first two modern universities in China and one of the nine best comprehensive research universities in China. In 2017, in the “double-class” construction list released by the state, it was selected into a class A construction university. In addition, 8 disciplines were selected as first-class construction disciplines. XJTU is a comprehensive research university with science and engineering characteristics covering 10 disciplines including science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, literature, law, philosophy, education, and art. It has 27 colleges (departments) and 9 undergraduate academies and 19 affiliated teaching hospitals. There are 5,982 faculty members, including 3072 full-time teachers and 38 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. There are 38,103 full-time students, including 18,919 postgraduates. XJTU has 82 undergraduate majors, 31 first-level disciplines for the doctoral degree, 45 first-level disciplines for master’s degree programs, 2 authorized doctoral degree programs, and 20 master’s degree programs.
XJTU vigorously promotes its international development strategy, actively participates in high-level, high-level, and substantial international exchanges and cooperation of higher education so as to enhance the ability to run an international university. In 2018, more than 2,700 international students from 136 student countries studied at XJTU. The overall employment rate of the 2017 graduates is 98.45%. They employed in well-known enterprises including Wal-Mart, China National Petroleum Corporation, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Apple Inc., and BMW Group. In 2017, the number of graduates employed by Fortune 500 companies (Fortune 2017) reached up 1,318, accounting for 30.72% of the number of contracted employees. The employer’s satisfaction with our graduates is quite high.
International graduates engage in some fields related to China such as economics, trade, cultural exchanges, journalism and communication, diplomacy, and education in enterprises, social organizations, government departments, and cultural and educational institutes around the world.
